About this resource
Description
The Suffix FUL Worksheet helps second grade students learn how the suffix -ful changes a word to mean “full of.” This suffix ful worksheet builds word study and vocabulary skills as children add -ful to a base word to create a brand-new describing word, such as help becoming helpful and color becoming colorful.
Using this worksheet, students first add -ful to six base words and write each new word, then choose the correct -ful word from a word box to complete four sentences. To use it, print the page, review the meaning of -ful together, and let students work through both parts on their own. An answer key is included so checking work is quick and simple.
What’s Included
- A second grade suffixes worksheet focused on the suffix -ful
- Six build-a-word problems for adding -ful
- Four fill-in-the-blank sentences with a word box
- A complete answer key
Three Reasons Kids Love It
This suffix ful worksheet helps children in three important ways. First, it grows vocabulary by showing how one small suffix can create many new describing words. Second, it strengthens spelling as students combine a base word with -ful correctly. Third, it builds reading comprehension as children choose the word that best completes each sentence.
Teacher and Parent Ideas
Teachers and parents can extend this activity in fun ways. Challenge children to brainstorm other -ful words like thankful, wonderful, and peaceful. Ask students to use a -ful word in a sentence about their day. You can also make a two-column chart of base words and their -ful forms to display in the classroom or at home.
