Description
Every camping trip starts with one job before anything else: getting the tent up. This Tent Reading Comprehension Worksheet turns that job into a short informational passage for 2nd grade readers. Children read how a tent keeps out wind, rain and bugs, and then follow the steps to set one up, from picking a flat spot to adding the rain cover and zipping the door shut. Along the way they practice reading a how-to text in order, using the signal words first, next, then and last.
The Tent Reading Comprehension Worksheet is built the way a comprehension assessment is. Page one holds a colorful campsite picture and the passage in a clear reading panel. Page two asks four multiple-choice questions that move from a key detail, to where a tent belongs, to what makes it stand, to which step comes next. A short written response then asks students to name the first two steps in order, using the text to show how they know. It works well for independent reading, a guided reading group, a literacy center or homework.
