How to teach Rocks

Using this What is Soil? Worksheet, students study samples of soil collected from different areas of your state using hand lenses and vials to examine what is found in soil.

Soil is needed to grow crops and plant flowers. This worksheet will help your students examine different types of soil.

Pour a sample of soil onto a black and a sample onto white construction paper. Next, using a hand lens, examine the soil to see the different components. Then, draw and write your observations.
