How to teach Counting
In this 1.NBT.1 First Grade Common Core Lesson, students will practice counting on from 1 to 120 using multiple different activities.
This lesson helps students build their number counting fluency. This lesson is excellent for a math center or small pullout groups.
Find the card with 1 on it, then count on until you get to 120! Once you’ve gotten to the end, help the frog get to the pond by touching each number and saying the number aloud. Remember with counting, the more you practice the better you are!

Use this Counting on to 120 Activity as an additional resource for your students.
Before students begin working, review counting to 120 using the Have Fun Teaching Counting to 120 Song. Have students count from 1 to 120 by putting the cards in order. Once they have gotten to the end, they can continue practicing using the counting mats by helping the frog get to it’s pond! All they have to do is touch each number and say it aloud. The more practice they get the better they will be! There is even more practice in this lesson when they fill in the missing numbers in the number charts.
