Description
Capital letters do quiet but important work in a sentence. They tell a reader where a new thought begins, and they mark the words that name one particular person, place, or thing. The Correct the Capitalization Errors Worksheet gives second graders concentrated practice with exactly those rules: the first word of a sentence, the pronoun I, the names of people, the names of places, and the days and months on the calendar. Rather than copying a rule off the board, students hunt for the mistakes themselves — and hunting is what makes a rule stick.
The worksheet works in two steps. Part A prints five sentences entirely in lowercase; students read each one and circle every letter that should be a capital, sixteen in all. Part B asks them to rewrite two more sentences the correct way on a full-width writing line. That order is deliberate: circling proves a student can find an error, and rewriting proves they can fix it. Print one copy per student, work through the first sentence together so everyone hears the reasoning out loud, then let the class finish independently. The answer key shows every circled letter and both corrected sentences, so checking takes seconds.

Three reasons this 2nd grade capitalization worksheet helps.
