This activity is perfect for teaching students about placing objects in the correct category. It is a great resource for an immediate literacy center or small group activity.
Student match the pictures to their correct categories. Next, write the letter in the category where it best goes. Then, write a new word that can also fit in the category.

Use this Classifying Hunt Worksheet as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this activity by creating a category called “Red”. Next, ask students to find objects around the classroom that fit in that category. Be sure to push students to explain why they chose that object to go in that category. Then, students complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, students to add new objects to the activity’s categories. Once finished, challenge students to find similarities between each item in the group.
