Description
Hippos are some of the biggest animals on land, and they spend their days in a surprising way. This Harry the Hippo Reading Comprehension Worksheet introduces 2nd grade readers to Harry, a hippo who lives in a wide river in Africa. Children read an informational passage about how a hippo keeps cool in the water, why its eyes, ears and nose sit on top of its head, and what it does when the sun goes down. Along the way they practice finding key details and using evidence from a text.
The Harry the Hippo Reading Comprehension Worksheet is built the way a reading assessment is. Page one holds a colorful crayon-style picture of Harry grazing on the river bank at sunset, with the passage in a clear reading panel below it.
