Using this Sweet Rectangular Arrays Addition Activity, students use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.
This worksheet teaches students how to write an equation based on arrays. It is the first look into multiplication and sets a foundation for 3rd grade.
Students can match the rectangular arrays to equations or laminate the blank cards for students to draw arrays or write equations using a dry erase marker.
