Early readers build comprehension one short, friendly story at a time, and the My Pet Lizard Reading Comprehension Worksheet gives them a story worth reading twice. Students meet Jonah and his green pet lizard, Pickle, in a twelve-sentence passage written at a kindergarten reading level. Every sentence is short, every word is decodable or familiar, and the whole story sits inside one soft pink panel under a full-colour picture of Pickle sunning himself on his warm rock. Beginning readers can follow it on their own, or listen as it is read aloud and then reread it with a partner.
