Description

How to teach Prime and Composite Numbers

Using this Planet Prime vs Planet Composite Activity, students determine whether a given whole number in the range 1 – 100 is prime or composite.

This activity teaches students how to determine if a whole number is prime number or composite number. This activity is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.

First, look at the number on the card. Then, think of a multiplication sentence where that number is the product. Next, sort the number as prime or composite. If you could only think of an equation that is the number x 1, then the number is prime! Otherwise, categorize it as composite.
