How to teach Opposites

Using Opposites Activity, studentsplay this fun game to practice identifying opposite pairs.

Knowing the differences between opposites is important for your students. This activity will help your students find opposite pairs.

Cut apart the opposites puzzle pieces and spread them out on a table. Select a picture card and then search for its opposite. Correct opposites will fit together like two puzzle pieces. Students can also play with a“Go Fish” style game with a partner. The goal of the game is to match your picture cards with their opposites. Take turns asking the other players for the opposite of your card (ex. Do you have the opposite of hot?”) If yes, then take the card and place the matching pair on the table. If no, then pick a card from the draw pile. Continue game play until one player has matched all cards with their opposites.
