Description
Good readers notice how the characters in a story are alike and how they are different. This comparing two characters worksheet uses a familiar fable, the slow tortoise and the fast hare, so third graders can practice comparing and contrasting two characters with clear, text-based facts. Every fact points back to what each character says or does in the race.
Students read six lettered sentences about the two racers. For each one, they decide whether it describes the tortoise, the hare, or both, and write its letter in the correct part of a Venn diagram. In Part B, they write two sentences that explain how the tortoise is different from the hare, using facts from their diagram. An answer key on page two shows where every letter belongs and gives a model written response.
