Using this RL.K.1 Common Core Activity, students answer questions aboutkey details in a text.
Being able to understand key details in the text will help your students become better readers. This activity gives your students practice with answering questions while reading.
Students answer questions on reading cards while reading any fiction book of their choosing.

If you are using this activity, your students are probably learning about story elements
Use this Story Elements Graphic Organizer as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this activity by listening to the Have Fun Teaching Story Elements Song. After listening, have students share types of story elements that they heard in the song. Then, let students choose a question card or choose one for the entire group to answer as they read. Students can read independently, with a partner, or whole group. After reading, students answer reading questions about the book they just read.
