Blends are two consonants that stay side by side and keep both of their sounds, and the sp blend is one of the first that young readers meet in real books. The Sparkle the Spoonbill SP Phonics Stories Reading Comprehension Worksheet puts that blend where it actually matters — inside a story a first grader can read from beginning to end.
