When your students first begin to read, they need to rely on the pictures to help them understand the story being told. This activity introduces them to how pictures can help them as they read.
Students will read “When Ants go Marching, They Count their Steps” and record how illustrations and words in a text demonstrate understanding of a text. Students can continue practicing using the graphic organizer when reading any informational text.
