How to teach Vocabulary
Using Vocabulary Jeopardy Activity, students determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text to build their use of vocabulary.
The books that your students read share information through pictures and text. This activity helps your students to share how they read the facts and information from the books they are reading. Your students will also learn how specific words have gotten their definitions.
Play Jeopardy by choosing a clue from one of the categories. Read the word on the clue card and match it to its definition card. At the end of the game, check your answers and count how many you answered correct. Then, record five definitions on the recording sheet.

Introduce this activity by choosing a topic that you have been studying in class. Next, ask your students to share words that relate to that topic. Then, students complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, students write what they know about one of the categories using the words from the game. Once finished, students share their paragraphs with the class or a partner.
