Every event has a reason behind it, and this what happens? cause and effect worksheet helps third graders find it. Cause and effect is how readers understand why things happen in stories and in real life: the cause is why something happened, and the effect is what happened as a result. Students practice spotting both parts and joining them into one clear sentence.
In Part A, students draw a line to match four causes, such as a forgotten umbrella or a strong wind, with the effect each one led to. In Part B, they read two short sentences and combine them into one sentence that shows the cause and the effect, using the word because or so. A cheerful picture of a melting ice cream cone goes with the first item. The second page is a complete answer key with model sentences.
