This writing about a topic or book worksheet gives first graders a clear, friendly place to say what they think and back it up. Opinion writing is one of the first real writing tasks a child meets, and the hard part is never having an opinion — it is remembering that an opinion needs reasons behind it. This page makes that structure visible: name the topic or book, write what you think, then give two reasons why. Then let students choose their own book. Ask them to read their finished page aloud to a partner and have the partner name the two reasons back — that quick check catches the child who wrote a second opinion instead of a reason.
