About this resource
Description
This elapsed time mixed review worksheet gives 3rd grade students a full workout on finding how much time has passed. Kids subtract a start time from an end time, work across noon and even past midnight, and solve short time stories from everyday life. It is a strong review page after your class has learned to tell time to the minute.
In Part A, students read five start and end times in a table and write each elapsed time in hours and minutes. The set is mixed on purpose: some times cross from morning into afternoon, one is a run of whole hours, one is under an hour, and most need students to regroup 60 minutes. In Part B, children read three stories and find the time slept overnight, the time a soccer game ended, and the time some bread went into the oven. This 3rd grade elapsed time worksheet fits math centers, homework, test prep or a quick review before a unit quiz.
What’s Included
- A five-row Start, End and Elapsed Time table
- Three elapsed time word problems that run forward, backward and past midnight
- A friendly lamp picture tied to the first story
- A complete answer key for fast checking
Why It Helps Kids
First, mixed practice keeps students thinking, since no two problems use the exact same move. Second, crossing noon and midnight builds a real sense of how the clock and the day fit together. Third, the stories show kids why elapsed time matters in daily life, from bedtime to baking.
Ideas for Teachers and Parents
Have students show each problem on a number line or a clock you draw on the board. After they finish the elapsed time mixed review worksheet, ask each child to write one time story about their own day and trade it with a partner to solve.
