Counting on means starting at any number and counting forward, without going back to one first. This I Can Count Starting at any Number Worksheet helps 1st grade students build that skill with two-digit numbers. Kids begin at a printed number, say it, and then count forward, writing each number that comes next. Every row crosses a ten, so students practice the tricky jumps like 19 to 20 and 89 to 90.
The worksheet has two parts. In the first part, students see one start number and fill six boxes by counting forward by ones. In the second part, they count in order and fill in the numbers that are missing from each row. The answers go in neat boxes, which makes the sheet easy to check.
