Description
First graders are learning that a vowel can say its own name, and the long i sound shows up in many of the words they read every day. This I Like Ice Reading Comprehension Worksheet puts that sound inside a real text. The short informational story is all about ice: what it is, how to make it in a tray at home, why it is nice on a hot day, and what happens when it melts. It is packed with long i words such as ice, nice, white, shine, while, time, lime, slice, side and wipe, so children hear and read the sound again and again while they read for meaning.
The first page pairs the story with a bright kitchen picture of an ice tray, a cold glass of lime juice and a folded towel.
