How to teach Word Problems
Using Exploring Word Problems Activity, students solve two-step word problems using the four operations using any strategy.
Your students need a lot of practice solving word problems. It makes them determine which operation to use and then the necessary steps to solve. This activity will give your students the opportunity to practice and check their answers.

Use this Solving Mixed Review Word Problems Worksheet as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this activity by reading problem aloud. Next, students share what they know that is going on in the problem. Then, have students complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, students share the strategies that they took to solve. After that, challenge students to write their own word problems for their partners to solve. As students are sharing their strategies, redraw strategies on chart paper to hang in the classroom for future reference.
