This Multiples of Ten Equations Worksheet helps fifth graders see the pattern that happens when a number is multiplied or divided by 1, 10, 100, or 1,000. Each time a number is multiplied by ten, every digit moves one place to the left, and each time it is divided by ten, every digit moves one place to the right. Understanding this place-value pattern makes mental math faster and builds a strong base for working with decimals.
On the multiples of ten equations worksheet, students complete twelve equations by choosing the power of ten that makes both sides equal. The equations mix multiplication and division and include decimals such as 4.5 and 3.06, so students must think about how far the digits shift rather than simply counting zeros.
