How to teach Nouns
Using this Nutty Nouns Activity, students sort examples of nouns into categories based on person, place, or thing to build their parts of speech understanding.
Being able to recognize nouns will help your students craft detailed sentences. This activity give them practice with the types of nouns.
Place the peanut butter and jelly category mats in front of your workspace. Select a picture card from the pile of nouns. Decide whether it is a person, place, or a thing and place it on the mat. Individuals or small groups take turns choosing a card and sorting it into the proper category. When all cards have been sorted, use the answer sheet to check if the sorted pictures are correct.
