Description
Birds are everywhere, but many children have never seen a quail up close. This Quincy the Quail Reading Comprehension Worksheet gives 2nd grade students a short, friendly text about Quincy, a small, round bird with a curly feather on top of his head. Along the way, students learn real facts about quail: they live in a group called a covey, they would rather run than fly, they clean their feathers with dust baths, and they build their nests right on the ground.
Students read the one page text with its soft watercolor picture of Quincy pecking at seeds in a sunny meadow, then answer four multiple choice questions with fill-in bubbles. The questions check what a crest is, the name for a group of quail, how Quincy kept his feathers clean, and where he helped build a nest.
