Description
This rhyming words cut and paste worksheet helps 1st grade students hear and read three word families: -ick, -ock and -ump. Children read six printed word cards, listen for the ending sound in each one, and glue every card under the family it rhymes with. It is a hands-on way to build phonics skills and early reading fluency.
Kids start by reading the three family labels at the top of the page. Next, they cut out the six dashed word cards at the bottom: sock, jump, kick, rock, pick and bump. Then they say each word out loud, match its ending to a family, and paste it into one of the two boxes under that label. This 1st grade rhyming worksheet fits well in a literacy center, a small reading group, morning work or a quick review at home.
