How to teach Rounding
In this Round it Up or Down Ice Cream Activity, students use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
Rounding is a difficult skill for our students to understand. They need a lot of practice to help them become accustomed to thinking about closer numbers. This activity will give your students a fun way to practice rounding to the nearest 10 and 100.
Students match the ice cream to the cone by rounding according to the
directions (to nearest 10 or 100). Then, continue practicing rounding with the provided worksheet individually or with a partner.
