This Second Half Presidents Alphabetical Order Worksheet helps third grade students practice putting words in ABC order when the first letter is not enough. The word box holds ten last names of United States presidents from the second half of the list, starting with Grover Cleveland, and five of them sit in same-letter pairs. A student who only glances at first letters will get stuck, so the page builds the habit of checking the second letter, and in one pair the third letter, before deciding which name comes first.
Use the page for independent practice, a dictionary skills warm up, a literacy center, or a quick social studies connection during a unit on American leaders.
