The passage in The Only Watermelon Reading Comprehension Worksheet follows a boy named James, who plants six watermelon seeds along the back fence in June. Only one seed comes up. He waters the vine all through a dry summer, his friend Lauren helps him test the melon for ripeness, and in August he cuts it open and carries slices up and down the block until every piece is gone.
