Students count hundreds flats, tens rods, and ones cubes, then write the same number as a numeral, in expanded form, and as a number name. Moving between these forms builds a strong sense of place value and prepares children for adding and subtracting larger numbers.
Using This Worksheet
Each of the three cards shows a group of base ten blocks. Children count the flats, rods, and cubes, write the numeral in the box, break the number into hundreds, tens, and ones in the expanded form boxes, and then write the number name in words on the line. The page works well as independent practice, a math center task, homework, or a quick check after a place value lesson.
