Description

How to teach Antonyms

Using this Antonyms Match Worksheet, students match fifteen pairs of antonyms by drawing lines between two opposite words.

This worksheet gives students the opportunity to practice finding words are opposite and then drawing a line between them.

Students find fifteen pairs of opposite words. These antonyms will help build students’ vocabulary skills since they are above the basic opposite words.

Other resources to use with this Antonyms Match Worksheet

If you are using this worksheet, your students are most likely learning about antonyms and synonyms.

Introduce this worksheet by playing “Guess the Antonym”. First, write as many blanks for that word (example: invisible would have nine blanks). Let students guess letters that are in the word like Hangman. Once they have figured out the word, they use that clue to say the antonym, in this case visible. Then, students complete the worksheet individually or with a partner. Challenge students to write their own sentences using the matches that they made on this worksheet.
