About this resource

Description

How to teach Points, Lines, Line Segments, Rays, and Angles

Using this Baking with Geometry Activity, students match picture cards to the appropriate geometry term, identifying points, lines, line segments, rays, and angles.

Being able to name points, lines, line segments, rays, and angles will help your students to describe shapes and geometric figures. This activity gives them practice in a fun way.

Students match muffin cards showing lines, line segments, rays, points, and angles to the appropriate baking bowl with the geometric term. After making all of the matches, students use the provided worksheet to write the numbers in the correct term box.

Use this Drawing Line Segments Worksheet as an additional resource for your students.

Introduce this worksheet by having students tell you what each term means in their own words, recording responses on an anchor chart. Next, students look at examples of each term and show examples using their body. Then, students complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, challenge students to create a slideshow displaying each of the geometric terms.
