Consonant blends are two letters whose sounds you hear together, and the cr blend starts many words children love, like crab, crayon, and crown. This cr blends worksheet gives students focused practice hearing and spotting the cr sound at the start of words while they read real sentences.
This cr blends worksheet has five short sentences. Students read each sentence, circle every word that begins with cr, and then write those six words on the lines below. Every sentence also has other words that start with c, so children must look at both letters instead of stopping at the first c they see. One sentence has two cr words, which keeps readers searching to the end. Use this 2nd grade phonics page in a word work center, a small reading group, or as homework, and follow up with a quick sound check.
