Description
Second graders are asked to use digital tools to write and publish their stories, and this digital tools assessment worksheet checks whether they know the keys and steps that make that possible. Children match four keyboard keys and buttons to the jobs they do, then put the four steps of sharing a story on a computer in the right order. It is a quick way to see who is ready to type a story on their own and who still needs a little more practice at the keyboard.
The first part lists Backspace, Save, Shift and the Space Bar in big, easy-to-read labels. Students read each short job on the right side of the page and draw a line from every key or button to the job it does. In the second part, children read four steps for typing, fixing, saving and printing a story, then write the numbers 1 to 4 in the boxes to show the correct order. A friendly printer picture helps young writers picture the last step of publishing their work.
