How to teach Punctuation
Using Punctuation Sandwich Activity, students recognize and use end punctuation to complete sentences.
This activity teaches students how to use punctuation correctly at the end of a sentence. This activity is perfect for small groups, literacy centers or independent practice.
Students match the sentences with the correct end punctuation. Then, students challenge students to write their own sentences with punctuation.

Use this Cool Cat Sentences Activity as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this activity by writing three different sentences on the board. Examples are “I like ice cream”, “Who wants to eat ice cream” and “Lets go get ice cream”. Next, ask students to help you put a period, exclamation point, and a question mark at the end of each sentence. Then, students complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, challenge students to write their own exclamatory, question, and declarative sentences. Once finished, students look for examples in the books they are reading.
