Description
This short i matching game worksheet helps kindergarten students hear the short i sound in the middle of simple CVC words and match each picture to the word that names it. Short i is the sound in pig, lid and wig, and it is one of the first vowel sounds early readers learn to blend. Because the vowel sits in the middle of the word, many young learners skip right past it, so steady practice with clear pictures makes a real difference.
Children say the name of each of the six pictures out loud, listen for the short i sound, then find the matching word in the word box and write it on the line. The words are bib, fig, lid, pig, pin and wig, and every word is used once.
