Description
This solid liquid gas worksheet gives second graders six everyday examples and asks them to name the state of matter for each one. Milk in a cup, steam rising from a hot pot, a rock in your hand, the air inside a balloon, an ice cube, and juice in a glass are all things students have already seen, so the science starts from what they know instead of from a definition they have to memorize.
Each sentence is missing one word, and students find it in the word bank at the top of the page and write it in the box. The three bank words are used two times each, so no one can finish by crossing off answers as they go. Every sentence names exactly one material, which means each item has one correct answer and the page can be marked quickly. A full answer key is printed on the second page of this solid liquid gas worksheet.
