How to teach CVC Words
Using this Spelling Short-Vowel Words CVC Words Activity, students read and spell words using short vowel sounds, then decide if the word is real or nonsense.
CVC words make up a lot of the words your students encounter. This activity gives them practice reading CVC words with short vowel sounds.
Look at each yellow card. Say the word with each vowel in the blank; use the red vowel cards to help you. On the worksheet, write the words in the correct box. If a word becomes a “nonsense word” by using one of the vowels, write the “word” in last box.
