Fourth grade science is full of big, hands-on ideas. Kids study energy: how it moves as light, sound, heat and electricity, and how faster objects carry more of it. Common 4th grade topics include energy and electricity, waves, light and sound, weathering and erosion, landforms, rocks and fossils, and how plant and animal structures help them survive.
Weathering breaks rock into smaller pieces, and erosion carries those pieces away with water, wind or ice. A simple sand-and-water tray shows both happening in minutes.
