About this resource

Description

Biomes are the large natural regions that shape life all over our planet, from scorching deserts to frozen tundra. This Biomes Worksheet introduces fourth graders to the world’s major biomes and helps them understand how climate, plants, and animals fit together in each one. Students learn to recognize a desert, a tropical rainforest, a grassland, a deciduous forest, the tundra, and the ocean by the conditions and living things that make each place unique.

This printable 4th grade science worksheet gives students two hands-on activities. First, they draw a line to match each biome to a short description of its climate and landscape. Then they read real-world clues about animals and plants and write the correct biome name from a word bank. A colorful illustration of a desert, grassland, forest, and tundra scene helps students picture each environment. Teachers can use it for independent practice, a science center, homework, or a quick review, and the included answer key makes checking fast.

What’s Included

  • 1 print-ready PDF worksheet
  • Answer key
  • A biome matching activity and a word-bank clue activity covering 6 biomes

This biomes worksheet helps children learn in three important ways. It builds science vocabulary by connecting each biome to its defining climate and habitat. It strengthens reading and reasoning as students use clues to identify the right environment. And it supports research skills by giving kids a clear framework for comparing the plants, animals, and weather of different regions. Together these activities turn a big topic into something concrete and memorable.

For more fun, invite students to pick one biome and research an animal that lives there, then share a fact with the class. Families can go on a “biome hunt” by sorting nature photos or stuffed animals into the biome where each belongs. Try comparing your local environment to a very different biome, or challenge students to draw and label their own biome scene. These simple extensions help the learning stick long after the worksheet is finished.
