Sequencing is one of the first comprehension skills a young reader builds, and this brushing your teeth sequencing worksheet turns a routine every child already knows into clear, teachable practice. When students put the steps of a familiar task in order, they learn that events follow a logical chain, that first, next, then and last are words with real work to do, and that the order itself carries meaning. Brushing teeth is the perfect place to start, because first graders live it twice a day. They can lean on what they already know while they learn to hunt for order clues in pictures and in print.
This first grade health and nutrition worksheet gives students two ways to practice the same skill on one page. Part A shows four pictures of the brushing routine, printed out of order, and students write 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the box inside each card. Part B moves the same thinking into text, with four short sentences about a girl named Mary that are also printed out of order for students to number.
