About this resource

Description

Big M, little m and the M in moon all come together in the Letter M Game, a sunny jungle game for preschool kids. Friendly monkeys swing in on vines, and each one hugs a big round sign with a letter or a picture on it. When a child taps the right monkey, the letter pops off the sign and flies into a basket, and the happy monkey cheers and climbs away up its vine. Playing the letter m game again and again helps little learners recognize the big M and the little m, tell m apart from look-alike letters like n, w and u, and hear that moon, mouse, mitten and muffin all start with M.

In this letter m phonics game, Abby cheers kids on through three rounds. First, in the treetops, they find the big M among letters like N, W and H, with the tip that big M has two tall lines with a V in the middle. Then, at the waterfall, they find the little m among look-alikes like n, u and h, with the tip that little m has a short line and two humps. In the banana grove, they tap the monkeys holding pictures that start with M. The letters and pictures a child mixed up come back for one more try. Abby reads every direction out loud, names each answer (“Moon! Moon starts with the letter M.”) and gives a kind hint after a wrong choice.

Every right answer fills the basket row, and kids can tap a basket to hear its answer again. Kids build streaks of 3, 5 and 10 in a Row, chase a High Score and go for a Perfect Game, and a golden monkey can sparkle once a round. At the end, kids earn up to five stars.
