About this resource
Description
Big I, little i and the I in igloo all come together in the Letter I Game, a sparkly winter wonderland adventure for preschool kids. At Lexy’s ice castle, letters and pictures are frozen inside colorful ice cubes on the snow. Kids press and hold an ice cube, a warm glow ring fills up around it, and the ice drips, cracks and melts away. When a child melts the ice on a big I, it bursts free in a shower of sparkles and flies up to its own ice pedestal. Playing the letter i game again and again helps little learners recognize the big I and the little i, tell i apart from look-alike letters like j and l, and hear that igloo, iguana, inchworm and insect all start with I.
In this letter i phonics game, Lexy cheers kids on through three rounds. First they melt the ice on the big I among letters like T, L and J, with the tip that big I is a tall line with a bar on top and a bar on the bottom. Then they free the little i among look-alikes like j, l and t, with the tip that little i is a short line with a dot on top. Last, they melt the ice on the pictures that start with I and skip the sun, the cat and the duck. The letters and pictures a child mixed up come back for one more try. Lexy reads every direction out loud, names each answer (“Igloo! Igloo starts with I.”) and gives a kind hint after a wrong choice. Little fingers that tap instead of holding still get there: two quick taps melt a cube too.
Kids build streaks of 3, 5 and 10 in a Row, chase a High Score and go for a Perfect Game, and every round ends with a snowflake celebration. A golden surprise can sparkle once a round. At the end, kids earn up to five stars.

Wiggle across the floor like an inchworm and say an I word with every wiggle.
