About this resource
Description
Rain, rabbits and robots all come together in the Letter R Game, a rainy-day toy-brick world for preschool kids. Sunny cheers kids on as they make it rain on the big letter R and watch it grow, find a cute rabbit hiding behind the rock with the little r, and tap the animals that start with R to watch them do a robot dance on the rug. When a child taps the big R, a brick rain cloud pours on its flower pot and the R shoots up out of the soil with new green leaves! Playing the letter r game again and again helps little learners recognize the big R and the little r, tell r apart from look-alike letters like n and P, and hear that rabbit, raccoon, rat and rhino all start with R.
Watch the Letter R Game
In this letter r phonics game, Sunny guides kids through three rounds. First they find the big R among letters like P, B and D, with the tip that big R has a line down, a bump and a leg that kicks out. Then they find the little r among look-alikes like n, h and m, with the tip that little r is a short line with a little arm on top (little n’s hump goes all the way down). Last, three animals stand on the rug blinking, and kids tap the one that starts with R, like the rabbit, raccoon, rat or rhino, to watch it do a robot dance. The letters and animals a child mixed up come back for one more try. Sunny reads every direction out loud, names each answer (“Rabbit! Rabbit starts with the letter R.”) and gives a kind hint after a wrong choice.
Kids build streaks of 3, 5 and 10 in a Row, chase a High Score and go for a Perfect Game, and every round ends with a badge celebration. A golden surprise can sparkle once a round. At the end, kids earn up to five stars.
