How to teach Text Features

Using Parts of a Book Activity, studentsidentify the front cover, back cover, and title page of a book to gather information about what they will read.

Being aware of text features is an important step for your students. This activity will teach them about the most prominent text features that they will find in their books.

In small groups, gather a small selection of books. Each student chooses an Activity Card. The student with the Leader Card chooses a book from the pile. Then, the Leader picks students one by one as each student shows the part of the book that their card says.
