Description
Pronouns are the small words that keep good writing from repeating itself, and fourth graders meet them in every paragraph they read. This pronouns sorting worksheet asks students to look closely at sixteen common pronouns and decide what job each one does in a sentence. Subject pronouns act, object pronouns receive, possessive pronouns show ownership, and reflexive pronouns point back to the person already named. Sorting the words by type turns a memorized list into a tool students can actually use when they revise their own writing.
The worksheet opens with a word bank of sixteen pronouns and four labeled columns: Subject, Object, Possessive, and Reflexive. Students read each pronoun, decide which column it belongs in, and write it on a line. Part B moves the skill into real sentences, where students circle the pronoun and name its type on the line below. This 4th grade parts of speech worksheet helps students in three ways. First, sorting forces a decision about every single word instead of letting students skim a list.
