How to teach Describing Orally

Using the 5 Minutes of Fame Read Aloud Activity, students create audio recordings of stories or poems by using a voice recorder with a microphone.

Being able to speak in front of a group of people takes a lot of practice. This activity will give your students practice speaking about something that is important to them.

Create audio recordings of stories or poems; add drawings or other visual displays to stories or recounts of experiences when appropriate to clarify ideas, thoughts, and feelings. Use an audio recording device, such as a voice recorder with a microphone, or use the paper microphone to pretend, to record students reading stories or poems. After recording, use the drawing worksheet to clarify ideas, thoughts, and feelings about what was just read.
