The Group Reading Worksheet gives first graders a simple way to hold on to what happens when they read a book together. Guided reading groups are full of good talk, but young readers often forget the best ideas as soon as the group ends. This page asks each child to write the title of the book, list who is in the group, tell what the book is about, record something a friend said, and share one idea of their own. Those small steps build reading comprehension and speaking and listening skills at the same time.
This group reading worksheet is built for 1st Grade readers who are learning to talk about books with classmates. After the group reads a story, students fill in four numbered boxes, each with two wide writing lines sized for young handwriting. A friendly comic-style picture of three friends sharing a book sits at the bottom of the page. Use it at the end of a small group lesson, during literacy centers, or as a quick exit slip, and use it again with every new book.

Ideas for Teachers and Parents
Model the page with your own group first, thinking out loud as you fill each box. Keep copies at the guided reading table so the page becomes part of the routine, and collect them to see which students are retelling with detail. This guided reading response worksheet also works at home: read a picture book together as a family, then let your child fill in the boxes and tell you what they shared.
