Collecting data and showing it on a bar graph is one of the first real math jobs a second grader takes on, and this dental hygiene graph worksheet gives them a friendly set of pictures to practice with. Before children can read a graph, they have to build one, and building one starts with careful counting. Sorting a jumble of pictures into groups, keeping track of what has already been counted, and then turning those totals into bars is exactly the kind of organized thinking that graphing teaches.
This 2nd grade graphing worksheet puts twenty-one dental health pictures in one box: apples, teeth, toothbrushes, and tubes of toothpaste. Students count how many of each picture they see, color one square on the bar graph for every picture they counted, and then use the finished graph to answer three questions.
