Electricity is one of the first big physical science ideas a fourth grader meets, and it hides in plain sight all day long — in the lamp on the desk, the tablet on the table, and the bus that drops the class off each morning. Before students can explain any of it, they need the vocabulary that scientists use: energy, current, circuit, conductor, and insulator. This Electricity Worksheet hands them that language in a form they can actually use, pairing a short, on-grade reading passage with questions that ask them to put the words to work instead of simply memorizing a list.

This 4th grade electricity worksheet opens with a two-paragraph passage that explains what electricity is, how a current travels around a closed loop, and why some materials carry that current while others block it. Part A asks students to finish five sentences using information pulled straight from the text, which is a quick and honest check that they read for meaning. Part B raises the bar with two written explanations, so students have to reason about cause and effect rather than copy a word. There are three reasons this Electricity Worksheet makes the concept stick. Teachers and parents can extend the lesson without buying anything special. Build a simple circuit with a D-cell battery, two short lengths of wire, and a small bulb, then break the loop and ask students to explain why the light goes out. Hunt around the room for conductors and insulators and sort real objects into two piles: a metal spoon, a rubber band, a paper clip, a plastic cup. Have students draw and label their own circuit, or challenge them to write a short paragraph explaining why the cord on a lamp is wrapped in plastic. Talking the reasoning through out loud makes the written answers on the page much stronger.
